My Story

Hello, there! I’m Pam.

I’m an artist and ardent hand-crafter who’s been sharing my passion for creative endeavors online for the past 12 years. I help people discover, trust and express themselves creatively by sharing my experiences and knowledge that helped me chart my own path and live a more consciously creative life.

Art and crafting by hand have been at the center of my life for as long as I can remember. I can remember the first time it occurred to me (at age 9) that paper was not just for drawing – it could be folded, cut, curled and pieced to make 3 dimensional objects. I no longer just drew my homework art assignments, I started sculpting them.

My love for art continued throughout my educational years and I went on to earn a B.A. in Fine Arts from Mercer University. After graduation I worked as a graphic designer and art director for 25+ years ending with a freelance career for the last 15. During that time I spent time teaching art at an inner city high school – a creative outlet I loved so very much. I think my students taught me more than I did them. We all grew together – artistically and spiritually.

I try to spend a few weeks out of each year taking workshops and classes. Two of my favorites places are Savannah College of Art and Design and John Campbell Folk School in North Carolina (everyone should go there at least once in their lifetime). It is in those places, continuing to learn and create, where my love for creating paper botanicals evolved and continues.

ABOUT THIS SITE

When I’m not sticking petals and leaves together, I am here – writing and encouraging you to move your hands and make something – anything! It doesn’t have to be flowers. I’m also going to remind you that, whatever you are making, it doesn’t have to be perfect – it just has to make you joyful in the making of it. There are DIY and DIT (Do It Together) projects to explore, tutorials to teach you some extra skills and, hopefully, some posts that will encourage you. There’s an “Ask Me Anything” section if you have questions about certain papers or tools I use or just want to know how I made a certain flower or branch.

And, as always, you can visit the Shop where you will find a pretty collection of perennial favorites, ready-made bouquets and individual flowers and branches. I also take custom orders for anniversaries and special occasions and, soon, there will be tutorials and penny-wise kits to help you make your own. I’m so glad you are here.
